ESFA Partnership Finals played in great spirit

p-28-11-08-esfafinal2.jpg On an overcast but dry Friday at the end of November, Yeovil’s Recreational ground played host to this year’s Partnership Championships for the English Schools FA small sided competition. With a total of 19 teams attending from all over South East Somerset, the scene was set for a busy and entertaining afternoon.

Badminton – Center Parcs National School Championships

Year 6 Fun Activity Transition Club

Matt Croucher from SASP had been working with a selection of pupils from Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School and Wincanton Primary School for 8 weeks. All previous sessions had been held in the Primary schools, with the final session hosted at King Arthur’s School.

Year 8 thriller to close the Central Venue Football season

p-13-11-08-year8cvl1.JPG The last finals event of this year’s football central venue league competition saw the year 8s playing once again in a triangular match, which turned out to be the closest event of all the year groups. The first match between Westfield and Ansford was played in the midfield, with few shots on goal. Westfield, making the most of the slight slope in the second half, eventually put together a good break on the right, which broke down to a foul on the edge of the box. A well taken free kick from the striker put Westfield one up, which they held on to, and won 1-0.

Year 7 Central Venue Final goes to the wire

p-12-11-08-year7cvl1i.JPG This turned out to be a well balanced triangular tournament, with the first match between Holyrood and Bucklers Mead. The first half was very tight, with both teams having shots on goals and both keepers making some fine saves. Holyrood went in at half time 1-0, but Bucklers pulled one back early in the second half, and took the lead when a shot was half blocked by the Ansford keeper but eventually turned in. With time running out Holyrood had a sustained attack on goal, and after 4 impressive saves by the Bucklers Goalie, the Holyrood striker eventually scored and the matched finished 2-2.
